General Studio B Update

• We’re running a special on private lessons for March – $10 off! Reserve your space at the front desk today.
• Miss Jilleen and Greg Gomer will be competing in Fremont-Rideout’s fundraiser, “Dancing with Our Stars”, on April 15 at Colusa Casino! Please see Miss Jilleen for information or tickets.

Important Dates

• March 12 “I Feel Pretty”, Level 3 Jazz performance, Franklin School Bulldog Boutique. Time TBA (please check the board for updates)
• April 1 Volunteer sign up sheets available at front desk for recital
• May 1 Additional tickets go on sale ($8/adult, $5/12 & under and seniors)
• May 14 Recital picture day Location TBA
• May 19 Recital dress rehearsal Glad Tidings Theater 3:30 pm, more exact times will be scheduled and posted by April 1.

New Recital Information

The master list of dancers is posted at the front desk. Please initial the box to the left of your child’s name if the spelling is correct, and correct it if it is wrong. This is the spelling which will be used in the program. Thank you!

We need backstage moms to help on picture day, during dress rehearsal and during each recital. Sign up sheets will be at the front desk in April, or email hyprtypr@comcast.net. We can’t do it without you, and thank you for your support!!!

A recital information packet will go home the first week of April to each student, but in the meantime, if your child will be performing in more than one type of dance (ballet, tap or jazz), you will need to purchase a nude changing leotard. On discountdance.com, search style N234 (adult) or N234C (child) for an example. All ballet students need light pink tights (“ballet” pink, 2 pairs) and pink leather ballet shoes, jazz students will need black jazz shoes (slip on or tie), and tap students will need black tap shoes, either black tie or oxford style (“suntan” tights are optional for tap and jazz). It is a good idea to get started securing these items now so there is no rush in May . Any questions, ask your teacher!

Studio Etiquette:

Our studio is a place of business situated on a busy county road. To ensure the safety of your children and yourselves, please do not allow children outside without a parent present. Students and their siblings should not be playing in the parking lot, nor should they approach the fences or go around the back of the building.

While in the lobby, students should spend any extra time before class stretching quietly in one of three locations, depending on how busy the room is: the carpet near the lobby, the changing room with the door open, or in the office next to the desk.

Please be considerate of the teacher, students and other parents: please use whisper voices while conversing with other parents or students, and clean up after yourself and your children before you leave. Thank you for helping us keep our “home away from home” clean, neat and tidy!

Studio B Foundation Update

The Studio B Foundation is being put on hold at this point, as it has proven difficult to find more than a few parents who are committed to organizing and raising the money to establish the Foundation as a nonprofit entity. Without this, the scope becomes too large and there is a lack of capacity to make everything run smoothly. The Studio appreciates the hard work and incredible efforts of the parents who have been involved thus far, and looks forward to the future when more parents can commit to devoting time to re-establish the Foundation.

General Studio B Update

• Welcome back from the break! We trust you had a wonderful holiday season, and wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year.
• A special thanks goes out to all the parents who helped with carpools to Nutcracker rehearsals and performances. The teachers at Studio B are so very proud of each and every student!

Ballet Training Program Update

Summerbella, our new leotard vendor, will be in the studio on Saturday, January 15, at 10 am. If your student needs a custom fit on their leotard and you’d like to discuss, or you just want to know more, please come by! If you are unable to meet with them, their contact information is on business cards and order forms on the leotard wall.

Recital 2011 Update

• Reminder that recital will be given Friday, May 20 @ 6 pm, and Saturday, May 21 @ noon, at Glad Tidings Theater, 1179 Eager Road in Yuba City (north on Hwy. 99).
• Reminder that dress rehearsal will be Thursday, May 19, starting at 3:30 pm (classes will be given specific timeframes in which to rehearse), at Glad Tidings Theater.
• Reminder that pictures will be Saturday, May 14 at Studio B (again, classes will be given specific timeframes for pictures, and group and individual pictures will be offered).
• New information! Each family will be given one complementary adult ticket per show, and you may purchase additional tickets ($8/adult, $5/12 & under and seniors).
• New information!  We absolutely cannot do this without parent help ~ you are all integral to the success of our recital! Closer to the date, please watch this newsletter, the website, Facebook page and the front desk for sign up information.

Studio B Foundation Update

• Our first 2011 Foundation meeting will be Tuesday, February 1, from 6:30 – 7 pm at the studio.
• Tentatively, we’ll be scheduling meetings on the first Tuesday of each month to begin at 6:30 pm.
• Again, please come to these informative and important meetings.
• The Foundation will be promoting a Dancer’s Dedication insert in our Recital Program and are looking for alternate ways to raise funds for our students to attend the Sacramento Ballet’s Summer Workshop program.

General Studio B Update

• The studio will be closed for the Holiday, from Monday, November 22 through Saturday, November 27. Please feel free to attend a make-up class for that week, anytime during the month.
• There will be no Christmas shows this December (Downtown Stroll, Mall, nursing homes, etc) due to time and expense commitments, and an early recital date (see below).
• Check out our new Yoga classes; morning and evening available, $5 drop in fee!
• Again, CONGRATULATIONS! To the 24 Studio B dancers who are performing in the Sacramento Ballet’s Nutcracker. If you’d like to purchase tickets, please check out tickets. com.

Ballet Training Program Update

We are very excited about our new leotards! Summerbella is our new vendor, and leotards will be custom made for each level to which our students advance:

Level 1a (one class/week): Black
Level 1b (two classes/week): Black (and pink ribbons on shoes)
Level 2: Lavender
Level 3: Teal
Level 4: Royal
Level 5: Plum
Level 6 & above: Dancer’s choice

• Thank you for getting your costume deposits in promptly! We hope that these earlier payments help with budgeting during the holiday time.

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful feedback from last year’s recital. All of that advice will help us provide a smoothly running, comfortable performance this year. Our recital theme this year includes “All About Broadway” (tap and jazz) and “Three Princesses” (ballet). We are looking forward to it already!

Studio B Foundation Update

• Unfortunately, the yard sale from the end of October was cancelled due to uncooperative weather; look for a reschedule for the spring!
• Feel free to continue donating items; drop off at the studio.
• Looking for volunteers to attend meetings and help set up the foundation.

The foundation needs to raise money for the fees associated with becoming a non-profit organization, in order to begin raising money to help our students. Please don’t be shy! Volunteer today! There are so many wonderful opportunities for our students to experience outside of their weekly classes; our students deserve the best!
